Growing up, I basically lived on the softball field. It was my "happy place", surrounded by a group of strong young women all working toward the same goal (which is actually how I feel during my boudoir sessions now, too!) Even though we were all so different, I loved how we became family. And that athlete’s body I rocked into my early 20s wasn’t the worst either—I was tan, toned, and confident.
Then, BOOM! Enter baby number one.
No one told me when I got pregnant at 24 that I wouldn’t have a near-instant bounce back a la Blake Lively. My entire body changed, and no amount of working out could quite get it back to my college physique. Everything rearranged—my stomach had stretch marks and loose skin and my legs had cellulite. And do you want to know something else? They still do!
Bringing a baby into the world isn’t easy on your body or your self-esteem. It also does a number on your social life. So, I know firsthand what it can feel like to spend your days super-dedicated to one thing, whether it’s kids, your small business, or climbing the corporate ladder. And when a reduced social circle collides with massive changes in your body (doesn’t matter if that change was triggered by a new family addition or a battle with the Freshman 15), you can start to feel powerless.
The experience of watching my body change into everything I didn’t want it to be was rough. Despite my wonderful husband's encouragement through my self-doubt, I spent way too much time getting undressed in the dark and pinching skin that wasn't there before. But self-love is a process, right? Ultimately I learned that it was ME that needed to be able to look in the mirror and say, “Hey, you’re perfect as you are, stretch marks and all.”
And I want you to arrive there, too. And so, my passion for boudoir photography was born.
I’m here to celebrate those “flaws” in whatever form they come. Because we women have to band together. That’s why my boudoir sessions are more than just about taking stunning images...they’re about helping you find your inner confidence. They’re about getting you to a place where you can look at your reflection with your head held high. They’re about real life, girls-run-the-world empowerment—the kind you can’t get just by scrolling through girl-power accounts on Instagram or finding boss babe quotes on Pinterest.
I can’t wait to help you reclaim your power, celebrate the changes you’ve endured, and love yourself in a whole new way. Let’s begin the adventure of a lifetime!
Ever heard “dress well, test well”? That’s my mantra, even though I’m not taking algebra tests anymore. Give me all the hats, jewelry, bold red lipstick, and perfume (Le Labo SANTALL 33 is my signature scent at the moment). Anything that makes me feel like I can take on the world when I put it on is gonna be in my closet or on my bathroom counter.
We all know it—girls get the short end of the stick when it comes to that stuff. Anything that makes this whole womanhood thing easier? Sign me up! Menstrual cups, period panties, and “self-love” items (wink, wink) are some favorites of mine.
I’m in love with vacations that bring me a couple of steps closer to the natural world. My family and I bought a Sprinter van after taking a life-changing van trip in Iceland and have loved taking it out every weekend for camping, hiking, and climbing adventures.
Nothing feels better than “taking off the day” with an amazing facial cleanser and cream. Being a mom and an entrepreneur, taking a little time out of each day to pamper myself is absolutely essential!
Anything handmade, I want. Mugs, artwork, candles, bedding for my boudoir studio… all those little things add up to make a space whole. When you take a trip to my studio, you’ll definitely notice a whole lot of Etsy finds!
Did you know my husband calls me a plant witch because I like to dabble in herbology? I have a cabinet full of locally-produced teas and tinctures—if you visit my town, a visit to Mountain Rose Herbs is a MUST! On top of natural healing herbs and remedies, I love kombucha, teas, and Nuvita CBD products. And you can always find me cooking my family a new, nourishing recipe from Love and Lemons.
